What is Hydrocodone?

Hydrocodone is a very powerful opioid painkiller and is used in medications like Vicodin and Lortab. This powerful substance is derived from Codeine that is obtained from opium which occurs naturally in the poppy plant. The prescription form of the drug is sometimes mixed with ibuprofen acetaminophen boosting the effect of the painkiller. Hydrocodone is an opioid drug and like other such drugs there is always a risk of dependency.
